PauseCut Privacy Policy
Effective: July 2026 · Waterman Group LLC
PauseCut is built to keep your media on your Mac. This page describes exactly what does and doesn't leave your computer.
What never leaves your Mac
- Your video and audio files. All media processing — transcription, speaker detection, caption rendering, export — happens on your Mac using Apple's on-device frameworks. PauseCut never uploads, streams, or copies your media anywhere.
- Your transcripts, projects, and exported clips. Stored only on your Mac, in files you control.
What is sent to our server (and why)
When you use Cloud AI moment picking or caption translation, PauseCut sends:
- the text sentences of the transcript (never audio, never video), so our server can ask an AI model which moments make good clips, or translate the caption text; and
- an anonymous random device identifier (a UUID generated on first launch, not tied to your name, email, or Apple Account), used only to enforce fair-use monthly limits.
Transcript text is processed to produce the response and is not stored on our servers beyond request handling; the device identifier is stored only as a monthly usage counter. We use Anthropic as the AI processor; their API does not train on this data.
You can avoid all network use by choosing "On this Mac only" on the start screen — every feature except caption translation works fully offline.
What we don't do
- No accounts, no sign-in, no email collection.
- No analytics or tracking SDKs. No advertising identifiers.
- No selling or sharing of any data with third parties (other than the AI processing described above).
Purchases
The one-time unlock is processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
